SwimTrek day 2

So, the plan was:

"We meet for a short walk to the sparkling waters of Punte Tegge for an acclimatisation swim, an optional technique advice & video session, focusing on open water technique and videoing your stroke both above and below water. This will then be reviewed later in the evening over drinks. After lunch and a chance to relax, we set off on an enchanting coastal swim from the tranquil bay of Cala Francese to Punte Tegge."

But... see prev. entry and the weather forecast...

This was the "tranquil bay of Cala Francese" on Sunday morning:

... so in the morning, the swimmers ok with walking went for a hike to some old fortifications on the neighbouring island Caprera, seeing routes we'd be swimming the following days 'from the other pov';)
They took some nice pics!

I did some exploring the island by car, no hiking for me ;)

In the afternoon, when the wind had calmed down a bit, we did our acclimatisation swim*; the others had to walk from the hotel, I gave the other not-hike-proof swimmer a ride

But as the water had been curned up good, the visibility was blargh, so we did the technique videoing in the tiny hotel pool and watched and talked about the vids right after.

*that's where the guides get a look at your form and how well you 'play' with the others ;)

Side note: I do 'Total Immersion', a swimming technique that emphasizes form before speed and aims for 'effortless' swimming... I'm perfectly at home in (and under) the water and can swim for hours, but I'm not all that fast any more - no more competitive swimming for me

Lovely scenery but a wise move to postpone the acclimatisation swim.

The views look lovely and I think I'd prefer a car ride to hiking as well.

I hope your fellow swimmers all played nicely!
