What are they called in the UK/when set in the UK?

Was there a 'golden time' of these post war? I seem to remember a reference to that, but can't pin it down...

And on TV - I know about The Sweeney, but there are others...some guy in Oxford detectiving? Something set on Irish(?) Welsh(?) somewhere islands?


And are any of these on Netflix? Am so disappointed with buying a month, all the stuff I want to watch - they don't have
