Well, Day 1 is a bit of an overreach, the SwimTrek starts with meeting up in the late afternoon ;)
This is where we're swimtrekking!

But arriving at the hotel first!
Main entrance

View when coming back from swimming by boat

the main advantage being that we'd walk to the jetty in about 3 min ;)

Walking to restaurants took about half an hour (but some insect had bitten me on the foot that morning, swelling and itching no fun, so I didn't walk anywhere and gave another swimmer rides, she had issues with her knees)
Anyway, the hotel, well, I'd stayed in SwimTrek hotels before, so my expectations were low, but...

... the beds. In the pic you can actually see how the mattrasses are sagging in the middle (while being hard as wooden boards at the same time). The sleeping pad I'm using to sleep. on the floor. of my car. is softer. and more comfortable (so I slept in the car when we were doing the arduous swims the day after)
Meeting the other swimmers and the guides I was surprised that more than half the group were US Americans, but coming to think of it... yeah there were more Americans every SwimTrek I've done... and the majority of the trips seem to be aimed at them now. Most of them were 'American Masters Swimmers', in serious training programms for competitive swimmers.
After the introduce yourself round we did the safety briefing, keep an eye on your group, follow the signs of your guide, how to behave on the boat, what to bring on board, that kind of thing

That night, trying to find a position to sleep in, I checked the weatherforcast...
