SwimTrek day 3

It’s time to travel east to Isola Caprera - home of the General and politician Giuseppe Garibaldi. From here, we enjoy a stunning coastal swim (unnamed bays and beaches in the morning). Following lunch, we take a short walk to Batterie di Punta Rossa where you can explore the barracks and gun emplacements of this ancient fort. The afternoon is given over to a crossing and a full circumnavigation swim of Isola del Porco.

We is actually swimming in open water from the boat!

We swam in 3 groups, fast, still fast but not as good technique and thus slower, and the leisurely swimming group (my group, yay! we did stop and chat about the sights a lot ;), a guide with zodiak or the main boat accompanying each group. Goups wear same colour hats for better visibility.

3000m

This is the south-eastern part of Caprera, we had to stop and cheer at the narrow part of the island (some swimmers did get out and had a look over to the other side, there's a famous sailing school there.

There was much cheer when we finished our first proper swim and we had lunch on the boat.

We didn't do any walking after, the Batterie di Punta Rossa was where the hikers went the day before when we couldn't go swimming.

After some digesting, we did the crossing (much cheering for making the crossing!) and circumnavigation of Isola del Porco (more cheering for finishing for the day).

The sea and sky look fabulous!

Well done on those long swims - I can believe the cheering - definitely something to be proud of!
