so, I'm doing the Crete Escape...
We met the first evening in the hotel lobby for the paperwork stuff, safety briefing, insurances and all that, then went acorss the road onto the beach into the water for a little 'orientation swim' (to let the guides see we actually can swim and sort of follow instructions ;)
The next morning we did a warm-up swim with drills for swimming in a group in open water (as opposed to lonely lanes in the pool, what most of us are used to), and our swimming got filmed above and below water, then we watched the video on a big tv in the lobby and talked about what we saw.
In the afternoon, we did our first swim!
This morning, the wind had picked up a bit, so we swam in the protected area behind Cape Krios (and quickly turned around when we swam out of the calm water ;)
We are a nice small group, only 8 people, and swim in 2 sets, pink and yellow hats. Our two SwimTrek guides watch us from two dinghys and a local captain with his larger motorboat gives us rides and guidance as well.
