... pathetic, isn't it?

Well what happened was this: I was pretty distracted with planning our vacation and driving around and seeing tall ships and then I went onto this book-buying spree for vacation-reading material, and bought about a dozen juicy tasty tempting books (and completely cleared out my bank account), and then I realised that between entertaining my parents, diving, chauffeuring my parents, swimming, sightseeing with my parents and the travelling itself I just won't have time to read a lot... so I succumbed to the lure of my new books and am now parallel reading about eight.

I know what you mean. I took just one book with me this weekend and ended up too busy to even read a paragraph.

The parallel reading of about eight is most impressive. I keep trying to read two in tandem and still continually only manage to keep it up for a fortnight.

exactly! I had two books and an audio book for the drive with me up North, but I didn't get to read anything, and I couldn't even listen to the audio because driving conditions were awful and I had to concentrate on driving and had to turn it off!
