I forget where it was, but I saw a quote along the lines that research is only ever done to confirm a writer's assumptions. If you already think you know what you're hanging your story on, then don't waste time checking up on the details.
My only excuse is that I'm writing a skript(um) about bovine diseases, so I'm trying to get the science stuff right, I'm fine with the 'ok, this it what it looks like when you walk into the stable, that's what the farmer is going to tell you, but don't just believe him and this is what you find when examining the cow' bits.
Not that I don't have cow tales I could write, coming to think of it...
Talking about cows... did you see the milking questions on Nano? And how is that going for you? OOOooh and I'm going to the Eurotier in a bit, I'm sure your robots will be there, too!
I'm not doing Nano this year; I only saw the threads you originally pointed out, and haven't looked since.
Our robots will definitely be at Eurotier - some of them are getting tarted up in the workshop right now - and it's still vaguely possible I might be, although given my health status, it's unlikely. I hear it's The Place To Be, though, and several of my office-mates are going.
