Because right now I'm feeling that that is the only thing that would make three hobbit movies ok for me. THREE! movies!
*cough* Anyway, I can absolutely see Sean Bean as Bard of Dale...
At the twanging of the bows and the shrilling of the trumpets the dragon's wrath blazed to its height, till he was blind and mad with it. No one had dared to give battle to him for many an age; nor would they have dared now, if it had not been for the grim-voiced man (Bard was his name), who ran to and fro cheering on the archers and urging the Master to order them to fight to the last arrow.
Hmmm, yeees, that would make the film, I expect that will be the last one, more palatable.
But, as it is, my exitement is rather bound. One of my friends is hell-bend on dragging us into the first one - how are they called anyway? It's not as if you can draw on several book titles... - anyway, friend hell bend on dragging us into the movie next week. And the thing is in 3D as well, which further reduces the enjoyment. *SIGH*
I suppose the one positive bit is that it's a chance to wear my tower guard costume... I think I will enjoy telling people to read The Lord of the Rings when they ask me what I'm supposed to be.
The Lord of the Rings... *SIGHS MORE* as I expect the Hobbit to give nothing more than a general nod in Tolkien's direction, sort of 'thanks for giving us names and places to play with', and not being canon in any way at all (and yes, even without having actually seen even the first one of the three Hobbit films, I could cover several pages with canon-insults) I don't expect it to make sense in a Middle Earth context, nor do I expect to really enjoy it. I do suppose watching the dwarfs and hobbit prancing around might be fun, but again, from what I have seen/heard ahead of time we are not going to be looking at
It was a dwarf with a blue beard tucked into a golden belt, and very bright eyes under his dark-green hood.
...
"Now we are all here!" said Gandalf, looking at the row of thirteen
hoods - the best detachable party hoods - and his own hat hanging on the pegs.
that kind of thing... btw, talking about Gandalf:
All that the unsuspecting Bilbo saw that morning was an old man with a staff. He had a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, a silver scarf over which a white beard hung down below his waist, and immense black boots.
I suppose I'll see how that turns out...
