The thing is that my parents are both turning 70 next year, so I'm trying to get closer to them, to be able to drive over quickly...
Ideal would be a job somewhere in the 100km/1 hour drive range (closer does not seem possible due to the non-agricultural structure of where they are - the middle of Germany near Frankfurt just does not have many cows).
So, had an interview in that distance range yesterday...

Met one of the employers at 8h - he picked me up at an Autobahn exit, and took me along on his route of the morning. Got swapped over to another one of the employers at 13.30h, helped him re-supply his Bus (Volkswagen Transporter) - took about an hour, he only drops by the Praxis (veterinary practice) once or twice a week -, then set out with him on his afternoon tour. Sometime between 5 and 6 I pointed out that I had not actually planned on driving the whole day with them, so got dropped off at my car again.

- Lunch? Nope.

- Hours of work? Well, certainly more hours of duty than 'oop North', as in I'd be on duty every other night and every other weekend - and have I ever mentioned that as a vet, no, I don't get the day off work after a night-shift? And working a weekend means starting Friday morning at 8h and being done Monday evening around 19h, to be back at work Tuesday at 8h...

- Wage? I had sort of hoped to raise my salary to the recommended wage minimum suggested by the Tierärztekammer (veterinary medical association) but it would stay 1400€ below that. No, vets are not payed well.

...BUT it IS in the 100km/1 hour drive range...

and FUSSBALL!

ok, today is a FIFA World Cup qualification game, Kasachstan - Deutschland, so *crosses fingers* and *gets ready to glue self down in front of the tv*

The only difference to the job as a vet (especially around Frankfurt) is if you are becoming a "pet vet". They earn much more, methinks.
You might strike luck in the "Wetterau" but that will be the same conditions as you have already mentioned.
Good luck, anyway.

I thought so.
That's a great picture and I assume (even though one shouldn't) that this is you.

Well, I used to call her 'Miss Hobbit', she was rather small for a Holstein-Frisisan, but her official and herd name was something different ;)

We're playing San Marino ... and we're really, really worried about it. England are useless!

Urgh, that does sound like a lot of duty for not much money. But an hour's drive from home ...

*HUGS* and *ADMIRES*

San Marino? Er... does not ring any bells... well, we'll see tonight!
