Mallorca and Menorca, Diving and Sailing
Well, here we go:
I flew out with my mother and father (father needs two attendants when travelling). Very glad it's such a short fight, just 1 1/2 hours. It was like flying on a Kindergarden plane. And it was not only the myriade of kids behaving at their worst, the older children were as bad. *bleurgh*
Mercifully we escaped any more torture by picking up a rental car (very nice black Polo *loves*) and making our way East on our own.
It was late afternoon by then, and we drove (well first my mother, but after my 3rd "Mother, this is a stickshift. Use the 5th gear!" I drove) through a very lovely plain in the soft afternoon light. Small, ripe, yellow grain fields with dark green olives or fig trees in the middle, beige stone walls, fincas here and there, mills and waterpumps.
I have to admit that I had not expected this kind of beauty.
The next day we set out toward Menorca!

accompanied by dophins

but somehow we missed our way and went to Scotland ;)

That night we went ashore in

and visited the sights

With my usual talent for self-mutilation, I fell off the mole right after taking this pic

and scraped the skin off my knee and my shin. Shallow, but beld a lot. Oh, well. As a woman I know that a bit of bleeding every now and then does not kill me, so we kept exploring.

The next day the weather had cleared up,

and later I had a chance to swim around the ship to take pics:

When we arrived in

I started to re-read Master and Commander (of course!)

I'm sure this used to be a double stair before they had to make room for the cars/road...
We kept sailing around Menorca

always with a security harness when 'upstairs' (would have saved the life of lots of fanboys, hehe)

Diving was exellent, too! We always took out the dinghy and between that and being on a ship in the first place you get to go to really good divesites!
Plus visibility was exellent!

We had some nice sunsets

and moonrises

The one thing that was not fun was the food. We had a French cook and the food was just HORRID. I do not know what all the fuss about French cooking is all about...
All too soon we dropped anchor off Mallorca again

and the dinghy took me to my diveshop

in this pretty bay

again, with exellent diving conditions and great visibility.

I even got to do a night-dive, which is something I enjoy very much, but is hard to organise

And there were lovely NUDIBRANCES!!!

I went to stay in a little, quiet hotel outside of town, as well

I would go diving in the morning, pick up my parents around noon and then drive around and explore the island

have a late lunch somewhere...

perhaps go swimming with my mother later...

sit in a cafe at quayside and watch boats and ships...

*sigh*
I would have liked to stay longer, it is a very pretty island, but...
*sigh*
