September is over and I'm missing Sharpe. What I'm not missing is September... that was a month from hell for me. Things are looking slightly better, but not great.
I'm so very glad I did Sharpe September. Sharpe saved me from thinking too much about some nasty real life situations. As gallant a rescue as any. My hero. Smilie by GreenSmilies.com

... but I really fell in love again this year...

After some unleasant online experienes I'd pretty much shoved Sharpe into the 'childhood fancies to be thought of fondly' box in my brain, but I hadn't read or watched anything Sharpe in ages. There was a fond thought of 'oh, nice' when a Sharpe pic showed up somewhere, but a gerneral 'ah, let that rest in the past' feeling.

Then, last christmas, I got an audiobook.

Boromir Sean Bean reading Knights of the Round Table tales.

And I'll not say anything about the tales themselves, but it was great to listen to.

So I obviously went out and found other Sean Bean read books.

Which are a couple of football stories for boys and... the (chronologically) first and last Sharpe books, Sharpe's Tiger and Sharpe's Devil.

So I listened to them.

And fell in love again.

... and by then there was a Fantasy February on LibraryThing, and I had this weird Sharpe September idea, and started talking with people about that, and other shite happened, both to some of them and to me, and September arrived and with it the dissolution of my employment, and I didn't really have any leisure time to just sit and read, and no internet connection 'till I moved, and I didn't manage to get a hold of a tv and a DVD player after all, and both my parents had to go to the hospital, and my car needed serious repairs, and I cought the cols of DooOOOm at the hospital, and ...

But, stubborn mule I am, I did read. And watch. And it offered a much needed escape from RL.

Thank you, (insert current rank) Sharpe.

*HUGS* Sharpe to the rescue - and it's so good that you've got your books, and some audio Sharpe!

And it now says Hello! Not Howdy!
