It is very close to home for you - and it isn't going to resolved quickly. It is a very serious injury - and people have to take their time
James Cracknell - an Olympic rower - was knocked off his bike doing a cycle ride across the USA - he seems to have had the same sort of trauma, and is still not fully recovered - but doing treks across the Arabian desert, on camels ... There does seem to be a much better hope of recovery these days

I thought it sounded very similar - and I hope that he pulls through. And for his family - I remember when you were ill and how worried everyone was.
