You remember, a few weeks back I told you I had hurt my ankle, and had to wear a brace for 6 weeks?

Well, that was 8 weeks ago, and the ankle didn't just not get better, it had been getting worse again. Basically, the only thing I can manage is a slow walk on a plane, even ground; anything with an incline or the unevenness of a well-groomed lawn is not manageable.

This finally led my doctor to refer me to have a MRI done.

Result: I have two completely ruptured ligaments, another partially ruptured one and another severely over streched one, the cancellous bone is oedematous and a Hydrops articularis of the upper ankle joint.

yay.

Oh, no! Oh, honey! *HUGS YOU SO MUCH* Is there any way they could have seen this before? Surely they should have done something when they saw it was not getting better? How long will it take to heal?

The MRI should have been done right after the primary insult... so it would have been clear that it was not just a sprained ankle.
I have another, firmer brace to wear for another 10 weeks, then check up. There is an operative way to stabilise the joint, but as that has not been done right away, another 10 weeks make no difference for that.
And I am extremely reluctant in the operating department, my right wrist is ruined already...

Oh, that's awful! *HUGS* I echo Elb; what do they say in terms of recovery?

I have a tighter brace now, check up is in 10 weeks... *sigh*

*HUGS* It is terrible that they missed it - but if they know, can they do something?

*Worries*

*sigh* the thing is, I'm a veterinary myself... not everything that can be done must be done. I do hope to get away without an OP, because it would mean 6 weeks of not touching the foot to the ground at all, and that includes driving, and I have had a really negative experience with my last OP.
