I really have talent, don't I?
Stumbled across a newish bookseries that builds an awesome world and has some engaging characters, with a small, not very active (any more) fandom.
Unerringly I manage to have unpopular opinons about some key issues...

(More concisely - screw 'em!)

I'm old enough (and fandom-seasoned enough) to not be impressed, just a bit sad, I suppose.
Cheers!

I know it's hard, trolls are the pits, (been there, done that) but really, fandom is for fun. Don't let them spoil the things you enjoy.

Am just a bit disappointed, I guess, I'd been looking forward to doing more fannish things again. (not that I'll really have time for anything once I'm back to work)
20 years ago all this fandom stuff was more fun, huh? ;)

I think I realised how stupid trolls were when I read a rant from someone complaining about Vigorli writers who didn't write in American English. I'm not talking about dialogue from the characters, but about someone complaining quite nastily about the fact that British writers used terms like trainers, jumpers, pavement and 'other stupid words', categorically stating we were wrong and that American English was the ONLY correct way. LOL!
I think what I'm saying is that a certain type of person will always find something to complain about no matter how ridiculous and that I for one, will never understand the need to criticise others unnecessarily. As my mother used to say, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
I hope whoever/whatever happened won't spoil your enjoyment of your new fandom too much.

...
How stupid is that? Nonono, not saying more.
I think it's an age thing to some extend... as a 40+ woman working a traditionally male job, I have an entirely different concept of political correctness than a 20ish... er... something person. Adding in 'the race thing'(whatever the current politically correct term is... I'm too old for that.

On the other hand, 10 years earlier as a female I wouldn't have been allowed in the building!
So yes, we sometimes see things differently based on our own experiences.
Political correctness is all well and good, and necessary in some areas, but sometimes I'm told by my sons that I've said something I shouldn't have when I honestly intended no disrespect to anyone. It is hard to keep up with the changes in that area.
