Sunglasses After Dark by Nancy Collins

Adventures in the Rifle Brigade by Captain John Kincaid

The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers

The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde

Charming parody of the traditional ghost story and a satire of the American way of life. You really want to wring their materialist necks and drown the boys (but I don't like children at the best of times, so I might be a tad prejudiced...)

One thing that bothers me is that a 15-year old girl is referred to as 'little girl' or 'little child'.

Die Rache des Kaisers by Gisbert Haefs

Aus Xenophons denkwürdigen Nachrichten by Xenophon (audio)

Ein Mann, ein Fjord by Angelo Colagorossi

Sharpe's Company by Bernard Cornwell

Adventures of a Young Rifleman by Johann Christian Maempel

Sharpe's Tiger by Bernard Cornwell

The Unknown Ajax by Georgette Heyer

Sharpe's Enemy by Bernard Cornwell

and re-reading LOTR right now... *curls up under duvet and reads*

Just finished "Sharpe's Fortress" and started "Trafalgar". Though I so should finish Austen's damned "Mansfield Park"... *sigh*. But Sharpe's so much more fun! :D

*shies away from Austen* you are a brave reader, I have never managed more than the fist few sentences of 'Pride and Predjudice'.

Yeah, Sharpe is more fun!

The Canterville Ghost

I love the film of that with Patrick Stewart in, but I don't know if that's the Wilde version or not having never read it myself. I really should on a read some Wilde next year...

Haven't seen the film... but it's an amusing story. I'll keep my eyes peeled; once you read it, I have questions! For the English native's reaction to the story...

Will do when I come across it. The film is quite funny, with Mr. Stewart managing to do a little Shakespeare along the way. :)

Having read my previous comment, though, I am ashamed by it's lack of coherency. I think I can only have been very tired last night if I imagined that the above could have made any sense.

made sense to me!
