As of today, I don't have to send in my application for occupational disability pension - I'm allowed to drive again! Which is sort of a 'must be able to' for a large animal vet...

So a return to working looks more likely now! YAY!

Still not so well on the hobbies front - the damage to my clavicle makes swimming rather painful, and diving - well, no idea if I can ever get my 'Tauchtauglichkeit' (um, diving fitness examination?) again.

ah, I won't work full time right away, I think there is a programme for this kind of thing and I'll start out with 2 or 3 hours a day, that only makes about 1/4 of my normal weekly hours - and is just enough to pay rent, so YAY!

Yaeh stupid clavicle. You'd think 4 months would be enough time to heal, but noooo *wants to pinch contrary clavicle*
Diving remains to be seen *sigh*

Well, congratulations on getting this far. I'd say go to the UK where you don't have to have a diving medical, but given an experience like this you would still have to have one. I'm going for my first ever one of those tomorrow, here in Amsterdam where it's a duikkeuring.

Ah, they are usually no problem, but a few club members(male and older) had heart problems found by them, so I do think they are off the good. And I really don't want to endanger my Buddy by being disoriented or unreliable... I have to wait a couple more months till I can see a diving-schooled dr. *crosses fingers*

I was thinking about this, and I know two people in the UK who've found out about medical problems through diving, and they've both been young women who turned out to have PFOs. One of them had been having bad migraines most of her life, and has had much less trouble with them since having the PFO surgery!

The medical was fine, though a bit odd as I had two people testing various bits of me at once, which might have been less odd if I'd ever had one of those before. I was pronounced fit, anyway.

I've done a couple of dives already (in lakes, okay but not exactly exciting) although the season's mainly switching over to training now. I'm going to do the 3* course - I could technically switch straight over, as a BSAC dive leader, but it seems like a good idea to learn how to do things the CMAS way.

Ah great! I think you shouldn't have to 'learn' stuff, just look at things from a CMAS pov... they might have different priorities than BSAC.
